Turn Your Home into Holy Ground
On Good Friday, the world often remembers the brutal, unjust crucifixion of Jesus Christ . But in an intimate teaching on how to anoint your home, Apostle Mike Signorelli of V1 Church declared: “It’s called Good Friday not because of what happened that day—but because of what was on the way.”
From the heart of his own home in New York City the Pastor reminded Christians that what looks broken, cursed, or hopeless can be redeemed. Redemption does not start just in a church building, but really in one’s home.
Your home is sacred. Just as we gather in churches to experience the presence of God, believers must also invite His presence into our homes. The house isn’t just where we live,it’s where we fight spiritual battles, receive healing, and steward the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Before one anoints their home, however, they must start at the foundation with their salvation.
Before the Oil, the Blood
Apostle Mike emphasized that you cannot anoint what hasn’t been redeemed. In Exodus 12:13, the Israelites smeared the blood of a lamb over their doorposts, marking them for protection during the first Passover. Today, Christians believe that it is the blood of Jesus, shed once and for all that says all from death and secures eternal redemption.
“When Jesus said, ‘It is finished,’ there was no more work left to be done for salvation. You don't work for salvation, you work from salvation,” Apostle Mike declared.
Before oil can be applied to your home, ask yourself: “Have I applied the blood of Jesus to my life?” That is where the believer must begin.
Many believers do not know what it means to anoint your home. Some believers go as far as not believing in such a practice at all.
The word “anoint” in Hebrew—mashach, means to smear, to set apart, to consecrate. It is both symbolic and spiritual: an outward act declaring that this space is no longer common and it now belongs to God.
It’s important to note: It is not the oil that holds the power. What holds power if a person’s faith in God and alignment with His Spirit. Anointing oil becomes a physical point of contact where heaven meets earth, where warfare gives way to victory, and where the mundane becomes miraculous.
Go Room by Room
Apostle Mike walked through his own home during the message as an example of what anointing your home could be life. He and his wife Julie declared healing, deliverance, and transformation over each space. The following is an example of how you can pray room by room in your own home redeeming each area for God's purposes.
Kitchen – Is a place of nourishment. Pray against emotional eating, gluttony, and stress. Declare it a place where your body (God’s temple) is strengthened and cared for.
The Dining Area – Can be a place of reconciliation. Anoint the table as ground for deep conversation, learning, family restoration, and peace.
Living Room – Is a place of memory and imagination. Push back against endless scrolling and distraction. Welcome creativity, worship, and laughter.
Bathroom – Is the place where lies often scream loudest. Rebuke body image issues and self-hatred. Speak truth over your reflection: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)
Bedroom – Is the place of rest and intimacy. Anoint for peace, protection in dreams, restoration, and removal of tormenting spirits. Remove any objects that invite spiritual darkness such as dream catchers, crystals, or items tied to occult practices.
The Doors and Windows – Declare your home’s borders as protected territory. Speak the Word of God over them. Rebuke demonic entry points. “No weapon formed against my house shall prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17)
From Warfare to Victory
Boundaries are not a bad thing. True consecration includes boundaries. We must all separate the sacred from the secular, rest from toil, healing from chaos. We must take practical steps in our home to keep ourselves free from demonic activity. That can mean turning off toxic entertainment, establishing sabbath rhythms, and carving out time for family worship and prayer.
If trauma, sickness, or chaos once filled your home, do not fret, God is in the business of redemption. What was once broken ground can now be holy ground.
The ultimate goal of anointing your home isn’t just to fight off darkness. It's to thrive in the light.
“Now that this ground is holy ground,” said Apostle Mike, “the book can be written in your home. The song can be sung. The business can be birthed. Dreams long dormant will awaken.”
The battle has already been won by the blood of Jesus. Anointing your home is not about striving, it’s about aligning. It’s about inviting God to fill every corner of your life, beginning with the space you wake up in each day.
Anointing your home is not a one-time ritual, it’s a continual declaration that this space is set apart. A constant reminder that resurrection power doesn’t just belong in the sanctuary, it lives where you eat, sleep, raise your kids, and dream.
