The Power of Prayer Circles

During a sermon series at V1 Church titled “Upper Room,” several leaders taught on the importance of prayer in a Christian's life. In this segment of the series, these leaders focused on the critical role of corporate prayer within the church and in the lives of believers. Minister Evelyn Roman shared the necessity of prayer circles, which is what she called the “engine" of the church.

The passionate leader, who is involved in the prayer ministry, said prayer is the heart of V1 Church. In Matthew 21:12, we see that Jesus was so passionate about prayer that after He flipped the tables of the money changers who were selling items in the church, the Messiah declared: “My house shall be called a house of prayer!” Jesus told them they had made the church a den of thieves, and His solution was to flip tables and reestablish what the church's main objective should be.

The Engine

Some believers have “tables” in their lives that they must flip. Minister Evelyn listed relationships, friends, boy/girl friends, social media…etc, as some of the idols that may be interfering with God’s will. Prayer reveals the things that need to be flipped in our lives.

Prayer is the engine that runs the church.

“Prayer is the engine of the vehicle that runs the church, it's a thermostat, it sets the temperature, it sets the atmosphere. Where there's no prayer, there's death. You're a dying church if there's no prayer because it sets the temperature. When we're people of prayer, we set the atmosphere in the room," Minister Evelyn declared.

As people of God, we should not be impacted by the rooms we enter, we should be those who impact the rooms we are in, in God. We shouldn’t just pray on Sundays but every day. People may pray in rows on Sundays, but should pray in circles every day. Prayer is the heartbeat of everything and without it, we will die spiritually

There's an emphasis in God’s word on praying with others as you meet. Jesus and His disciples were meeting, breaking bread, and praying.

Host His Presence

Before attending V1 Church, the speaker shared that she built a prayer circle with some friends. This prayer community lit a fire in her that began to grow as they prayed. While praying the Holy Spirit began to speak, and she and her team yearned for revival. God gave her a dream that revival would come to her home, but it would be years before she saw the results.

Sometimes families are broken and are going through all kinds of stuff but praying in a corporate setting changed things. She and her prayer circle were led to V1 Church. There, the brokenness of their lives began to get visited by God and her dream about revival would begin to come true. God is looking for a house that will host His presence and V1 Church did just that. Minister Evelyn’s late-night prayer meetings with her prayer circle would soon spark a revival that began to trickle into her home and transform her loved ones, whom she had been fervently praying for.

Some people need to get uprooted from the dead places they are in and get rooted in places that host God’s presence.

“It's time to start building prayer circles,” Evelyn declared. “Prayer circles also meet outside of the church walls.”

She concluded by telling the church she is not a prayer warrior on her own, it’s because she had family with her to pray and because of the aarons in her life, that the blessings came. The church must prioritize prayer.
