Submit to Leadership, Don't Fight Them

“Here I am, God. Cut me. Break me. Shape me. Prune me. Whatever You’ve got to do—just don’t let me stay the same.” Pastor Sandra, mother of Apostle Mike Signorelli declared in a recent sermon from the "Rooted" Series at V1 Church.

In a world where people seek a platform without going through the process, God is looking for those who are willing to be rooted. We know from observing nature that we can’t bear fruit unless we are planted, and we can’t grow unless we stay rooted.

Church Is Not Optional

We’re living in a generation that loves Jesus but will avoid going to His church. People “church-hop” like it’s a spiritual scavenger hunt. They pick apart pastors, skip sermons, and hop online for a word but refuse to get under a covering. No roots, no accountability, no growth and then are shocked when storms come and they get blown over.

Pastor Sandra, affectionately called Pastor Moses, said, “A rogue spirit doesn’t submit to anyone.” The Word is clear we are meant to be “Planted in the house of the Lord,” because when we are, God’s people will flourish (Psalm 92:13). Christians must be planted, not just passing through or “dating” the church.

What does it mean to be rooted? Being rooted in a local church, such as V1 church, means you're not just attending a location, but you're committing to being there. You're not just receiving, you're submitting. You're not just consuming, you're serving.

Pastor Moses noted it means telling God: “I want covenant with You and with Your people. I submit to spiritual authority. I release my gifts. I will go through the process. I will die to myself. And I will help reach the lost.”

When rooted, that will help us grow up in our emotions, our reactions, our discipline, our relationships, and our theology. It will cause God’s people to be unoffendable, teachable, and correctable. In turn, you won’t ghost the ministries or people who refuse to let you stay immature, you’ll embrace them.

Are You Rooted?

The result of being rooted in the local church isn’t just more church attendance—it’s transformation.

Many people are walking around with offense, spiritual baggage, and soul ties to every church they’ve ever attended, and that is why they can not not grow!

God doesn't bless rebellion; He blesses rootedness. That means we, His children, must stop fighting our pastors, stop resisting correction, and stop church-hopping when our feelings get hurt. Pray this: “God, it’s me. I surrender to the process. I’m done trying to figure it out on my own. You’re the potter. I’m the clay. Mold me.”

When you are planted in God’s house:

  • Your emotions start aligning with His Word.

  • You trust God instead of reacting in fear or panic.

  • You learn to think before acting and make sound, Spirit-led decisions.

  • You forgive quickly.

  • You become unoffendable.

  • You submit to correction without running.

  • You learn to serve instead of just being served.

You will begin to bear real fruit. As the scripture says, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” (Philippians 1:6) but He doesn’t do it in isolation. He does it in community.

The Rogue Spirit vs. The Rooted Spirit

A rogue spirit is rebellious and says “No one tells me what to do.” People under that influence do not trust churches, are constantly taking a break from community, and leave from places that bring correction. They live by the motto, “God knows my heart,” but negate biblical instruction to not forsake the assembling of one another.

A rooted spirit says “God, search my heart,” instead. Those rooted ask for the Lord’s discipline and want to grow and be held accountable. Pastor Moses said those people will clean toilets if it helps someone know Jesus.

At V1 Church, they do not want people to just be another face in the crowd. It’s a five-fold ministry that stabilizes, teaches, shapes and transforms people from a shaky believer into a pillar in the house of God.

Being rooted means:

  • Submitting to godly authority.

  • Tithing and trusting God with your finances.

  • Receiving deep, theological nourishment

  • Becoming emotionally, mentally, and spiritually mature.

  • Evangelizing the lost and expanding the Kingdom.

Rootedness is not about performance, it’s about positioning. God wants the soul of His children to prosper— mind, will, emotions, and relationships. But prosperity doesn’t flow to rebellion. It flows to the planted.

Pastor Moses warned people to stop floating, hiding behind excuses, resisting correction and calling it discernment. God’s children want Him to bless, increase, and elevate until we are planted we can’t grow. Connect with a church—not just physically, but spiritually - Submit, serve, sow, stay, And God will begin to flourish your life.

Pray This:

“God, I give You permission to root me. I renounce every rogue spirit, every offense, and every lie that told me I didn’t need Your church. I submit to the process. I embrace authority. I want to bear fruit that lasts. Plant me, prune me, and prosper me—for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
