The Secret to Ascended Prayer
Luke, the beloved physician, never wasted words in his biblical accounts. When he wrote “Jesus went up on a mountain to pray” in Luke 6:12, he’s writing like a surgeon describing a lifesaving incision: precise, intentional, essential. Luke viewed everything through the meticulous eyes of a doctor, so if the Great Physician climbed the mountain to commune with the Lord, the climb up must have been essential.
In a sermon, Apostle Mike Signorelli reminded V1 Church that this generation does not need another shiny sermon clip; we need a mountain elevated prayer life that drowns out the lies of the enemy and tunes us to the Father’s voice.
God Meets Us Up
Whenever God wants to shift history, He first calls His people up.
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” – Colossians 3:2
Elevation changes perspective. Like a jet lifting off the runway, city noise shrinks to a hush; street trash looks microscopic. When we ascend in prayer, condemnation’s taunts grow faint, and destiny’s whisper rings clear.
Before Pentecost shook the world and the Holy Spirit descended, 120 ordinary people gathered in the upper room (Acts 2). There, they were met with a fresh wind and tongues of fire. Moses also went up on the mountain in Exodus 3 & 19 where the burning bush blazed on higher ground, and later he was given the Ten Commandments.
We see in scripture that Jesus repeatedly withdrew to elevated places (Luke 6:12; Matthew 17:1-8). Revelation and empowerment often happened as God’s people went “up.” The higher the altitude, the clearer the attitude.
The Enemy Drags You Low
In Eden, the serpent slithered low and lured humanity into the depths with him. After judgment, God cursed him by saying: “On your belly you shall go, eating dust all your days” (Genesis 3:14). Isaiah gives us a glimpse of Lucifer boasting and saying, “I will ascend,” yet God hurls him “down to the depths of the pit” (Isaiah 14:12-15).
Satan’s goal is still the same to pull God’s creation into the dust. In modern day he often does that in the angry comment-section, through gossip and offenses because low places rob us of a high perspective. It is important to note that the devil's language is "I will," whereas a Christian discipled by Jesus says, "thy will." The enemy wants to bring us down into these low conversations into these low interactions, he wants to get us down to the realm that he was cursed to.
Change Altitude, Change Perspective
Apostle Mike illustrated the moment a plane leaves the runway. He said all the noise of the city fades, the view of the world shrinks to freckles. The further up the better one can focus in on God. Colossians 3:2 urges Christians to, “Set your minds on things above.” Just like a plane drowns out the noise of the city, ascending in prayer subdues every condemning voice until only the Father’s voice remains.
“You know you’ve heard from God when you feel ridiculous explaining it to others,” Apostle Mike assured.
Higher vision allows for God’s children to declare impossible futures. Ephesians 2:6 says we’re already seated with Christ in heavenly realms. Revelation, however, converts position into practice. Once we grasp that heavenly seat we ought to start speaking with authority. Prophesy into your valley from mountain altitude. Humility precedes elevation; self-promotion precedes demolition. “Those who humble themselves will be exalted” (Luke 14:11).
When God lifts you up, no cancel culture, no demon, no detour can drag you back.
Jesus left nine disciples in the valley while three witnessed glory. Elevation requires filtration. Not everyone will go with you to the upper room. If God is resizing your relationships, don’t resent it; reserve your emotional energy for those assigned to your altitude. At the Transfiguration, Jesus limited the invite list to three—Peter, James, John—showing us that smaller circles often precede higher revelations.
An eagle never wrestles a serpent on the dirt. It swoops, snatches, and changes the battlefield. Once in the sky the snake suffocates. In warfare, stop grappling on demonic turf. Worship, speaking in tongues, and declaring scripture will likewise defeat the enemy!
