A Journey to the Master Potter's House: Surviving the Process
Listen to me, if we are going to break generational curses and deal with the sin in our lives, we have to understand the sanctification process. I’m not going to sugarcoat anything for you because I am not a people pleaser; I am a deliverance pastor, and we have to deal with the heart.
If you want to walk in true freedom and fulfill your destiny, you need to take a trip to the Master Potter's house. In Jeremiah 18, God tells the prophet to go down to the potter's house to receive a message. The truth is, you are the clay, and Jesus is the Master Potter. But getting molded into a vessel of honor requires submitting to a six-step process that will challenge your flesh, break your pride, and test your endurance.
Here are the six stages of the Master Potter's process:
1. The Gathering of the Clay Before anything else, the Master Potter goes to the dirty, dark, smelly riverbank to gather His clay. He came looking for you while you were still in your sin, dirt, and filth. You didn't choose Him; He chose you. He reached into that deep, miry clay, pulled you out, and set your feet on a solid rock. Never forget where the Lord brought you from!
2. Cleaning the Clay This is where the modern church gets offended. Before you can be used, you have to go through a season of pressure, pruning, and breaking. The Potter kneads the clay and uses a rod to beat out the impurities, twigs, and stones. God has to beat out the addiction, stubbornness, pride, rebellion, perversion, and bad attitudes from your life. If you are grumbling, complaining, and acting like a toddler wearing a poopy diaper, God is going to use the rod of correction because He disciplines those He loves. You cannot rush this purification process; if the air pockets and impurities aren't removed, you will explode when you hit the fire.
3. Shaping the Clay Once cleansed, you are placed on the spinning wheel. Some of you feel like you are in a spinning season right now, moving fast and just trying to keep up. The Potter uses moisture (the Holy Spirit) to shape you. If you have too much pride, you're too wet; if you are resisting the Spirit, you are too sticky. The Potter might even have to smash you down to start over, but let me tell you—He will bring beauty for ashes and make something exquisite out of your broken pieces.
4. The Fine Thread of Separation After shaping, the Potter uses a fine thread to separate the vessel from the lump. Timing here is everything. This is the exact moment where deception and pride manifest. People start thinking, "I should have had that promotion by now" or "I'm going to start my own ministry," and they end up going rogue. Listen to me: do not run ahead of the Potter. You need accountability, submission to leadership, and godly wisdom. Get off the throne, put Jesus back on it, and walk in humility.
5. The Dry Container Next, the vessel is put on a shelf to dry. You might feel like you are in a dry season with no active ministry, sitting and waiting. This isn't punishment; it is preparation. God puts you on the shelf to build your maturity so you can handle the weight of your next assignment. Use this time to get into your Bible, wait silently on God, and deepen your intimacy with Him. It's not about a title or a platform; it’s a heart check.
6. Fixing the Container in the Fire Finally, you have to go into the fire. You are going to go through seasons of fire, but there is a fourth man in that fire, and His name is Jesus. The fire is designed to bring all your hidden dross—offense, unforgiveness, doubt, perversion, and carnality—up to the surface. You might look cute on the outside in your church clothes, but God is checking to see what is hiding in the rooms of your heart.
How does the Potter know when to pull you out of the fire? He waits for a sound. He waits to hear the humming of a surrendered heart. When you stop complaining and start worshiping in the middle of the flames, saying, "Teach me, shape me, break me, mold me," that is when you become a vessel of honor.
We are breaking generational and ancestor curses right now, but it requires you to yield. Are you just called, or are you chosen?. Take yourself off the throne, leave it all behind, and go all in. Give God permission to clean out every area of your heart, because He is coming back for a spotless bride.
Submit to the process. Let the Master Potter finish His work.
