Sit, Walk, Stand: How to Stop Fighting for Victory and Start Operating From It
You are exhausted. You feel it in your chest every single night.
You try whiteboarding new strategies. You try debating your way out of problems. You try powering through burnout with extra caffeine and sheer willpower. Yet that heavy anxiety still tracks you into the dark. You go to bed feeling like you're fighting a losing battle against a mountain that refuses to move. Your marriage feels strained. Your child refuses to listen. Your mind feels trapped in endless fear.
Here is the plain truth you need to hear today:
You are using the wrong weapon for a spiritual war.
You cannot fix a demonic attack with human psychology, natural arguments, or self-help tactics. You will lose every single time. But when you recognize the real enemy, everything changes.
Just recently, I sat alone at home dealing with an intense mental attack. A heavy spiritual weight tried drawing me into temptation, fear, and doubt. I tried shaking it off in the natural. Nothing worked. Finally, I stopped playing games. I stood up right in my living room and spoke directly to the enemy: “Devil, I rebuke you. I command you to shut your mouth, stop soliciting me, and go to the abyss in Jesus' name.”
Instantly, the room felt six shades brighter. The mental fog cleared. The heavy weight vanished.
As I constantly tell our church: “If you want to know if it’s demonic, try addressing the demonic.”
How to Dethrone Principalities Over Your Life
Look at our culture today. Mainstream bookstores like Barnes & Noble report that sales of books on witchcraft and the occult are up over 40%. Meanwhile, believers retreat into passive religion. God never called you to back down. He never called you to beg the devil for permission to exist.
Most Christians spend their entire lives fighting for victory instead of fighting from victory. You get trapped in a beggar’s mindset, crying out to God as if Jesus forgot to finish the job on the cross 2,000 years ago.
You are not sitting underneath your circumstances; you are seated far above them.
In Ephesians 1:20–21, Paul writes that God raised Christ from the dead and set Him in heavenly places—far above every principality, power, might, and dominion. Then, in Ephesians 2:4–6, Scripture drops a truth that destroys every low-self-esteem mindset: God raised you up together with Christ and made you sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Notice your exact position in the spirit realm. You are not sitting a few inches above the enemy in a tight contest. You sit far above every demonic hierarchy, every generational curse, and every spirit of anxiety tormenting your home.
As Pastor Mike Signorelli put it: “Spiritual authority is not control over other people; it is sitting in the seat Jesus paid for you to occupy.”
You did not earn that seat. Your good performance did not buy it. Your past mistakes cannot disqualify you from it. Jesus paid His own blood so you could sit next to Him. Stop running to human strategies when God told you to sit in your spiritual authority.
Stop Giving the Devil Residency in Your Mind
Once you understand where you sit, your daily movement changes completely. In Ephesians 2:8–10, Paul reminds you that grace saves you through faith. You cannot earn it by works. But Paul immediately adds that you are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared for you to walk in them.
Grace gives you your seat. Obedience gives that grace active expression.
In Ephesians 4:1–3, Paul urges you to walk worthy of your calling with humility, gentleness, and patience. Down in verses 26–27, he drops a direct warning: “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil.”
The devil cannot occupy a space you refuse to rent to him.
Let’s stop playing religious games. Look at your life right now. Are you actually walking in the authority Jesus died to give you? Or are you complaining about darkness while handing the enemy free rent in your mind? You scroll through toxic filth at midnight, nurse old grudges, and entertain bitterness. Then you wonder why your peace vanished. You expect resurrection power while living in passive compromise.
Stop giving the enemy an Airbnb experience in your thoughts. It cost Jesus' precious blood to take residency in your body. Lock the door. Tell the devil rent is too expensive in your mind, and command his strongholds to leave.
Check your speech too. Ephesians 4:29 warns you to let no corrupt communication leave your mouth. Corrupt speech isn't just profanity; it is anything you speak that contradicts God's promises. Take the energy you used to waste cussing people out and turn it into righteous prophecy. Speak life over your spouse. Speak freedom over your children. Refuse to give the devil a microphone.
Standing Firm When Your Red Sea Is Right in Front of You
In Psalm 1:1–3, Scripture shows how ungodly people regress: they walk in bad counsel, stand with sinners, and sit with scoffers. But in the Book of Ephesians, God completely flips that sequence for you. First, you SIT in your authority. Next, you WALK in daily obedience. Finally, you STAND.
Ephesians 6:10–13 declares: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil... and having done all, to stand.”
When you have done everything you know to do, stop striving and take your stand.
Think about Moses at the Red Sea. He already knew his authority when he confronted Pharaoh. He already walked in obedience by leading Israel out of Egypt. But when he hit the edge of the roaring water with Pharaoh’s chariots closing in fast, only one step remained: stand still and watch God work.
Spiritual authority isn't human strategy; it's spiritual positioning.
God is sifting His church right now. Darkness is shaking our culture. But if you stand rooted in Christ, you are stepping into your greatest days of glory. I do not care how massive the mountain in front of your finances, health, or family appears today—speak directly to that mountain and command it to move in Jesus' name.
I have a direct challenge for you today: Stop acting like a passive spectator in your own spiritual life.
Stop watching from the sidelines while darkness claims territory in your city, your home, and your culture. Years ago, when I published my previous book, I feared looking commercial. I spent my own family savings to buy 10,000 copies and give them away for free. But the Lord rebuked me directly: “Mike, if it’s free, it’s worthless. People have to be willing to pay the price to go with you.”
It is time for you to pay the price. Get off the fence. Join a small group, lock arms with believers who actually burn for God, and stop apologizing for being a radical follower of Jesus Christ.
Take your seat. Walk in obedience. Stand your ground.
Your Red Sea is about to split.
