Go Beyond Sunday: Find a Small Group
Finding a Christian church near you is a great first step, but community doesn't have to stop when the Sunday service ends.
At V1 Church, our small groups are called Flight Crews.
Flight Crews are small groups that meet regularly to do life together—to talk about the Bible, pray, laugh, eat, build friendships, and show up for one another through every season.
Some Flight Crews focus on Bible study or discussing the weekly sermon. Others connect people through shared interests, stages of life, fitness, serving, hobbies, marriage, parenting, and more.
Whether you're new to V1 or you've been attending for a while, Flight Crews are one of the ways a big church can begin to feel like family.
New to Christianity? You Are Welcome
You don't have to know the Bible from cover to cover before attending church.
You don't need to understand every part of Christianity.
And you don't need to have every part of your life figured out.
Church can be a place to ask questions, learn what the Bible teaches, discover who Jesus is, and grow one step at a time.
If you've been searching online for "Christian church near me" because you're curious about faith, you're welcome at V1 Church.
What Does V1 Church Believe?
When you're searching for a Christian church near you, location matters—but so does knowing what the church believes and teaches.
At V1 Church, our beliefs are rooted in the Bible and centered on Jesus Christ. Our Tenets of Faith cover foundational Christian beliefs and help explain what guides our teaching, ministry, and life together as a church.
The Bible
We believe the Holy Bible is the authoritative Word of God and the final authority for determining doctrinal truth. We believe Scripture, in its original writing, is inspired, infallible, and inerrant (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Proverbs 30:5; Romans 16:25-26).
God and the Trinity
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are co-equal and co-eternal (1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19).
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. Jesus was fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead on the third day, ascended to the Father, and will return again in power and glory (John 1:1, 14; John 20:28; Philippians 2:5-6).
We believe Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary (Matthew 1:18, 23-25; Luke 1:27-35).
Salvation Through Jesus Christ
We believe humanity was created good and upright but fell through sin, and our hope of redemption is found in Jesus Christ.
Salvation is a gift from God. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection—not through our good works or human effort (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31).
We believe repentance means turning away from sin and following Christ, receiving His forgiveness and redemption (Acts 2:21; Acts 3:19; 1 John 1:9).
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is active in the lives of believers and in the Church. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to share the Gospel, grow in Christlike character, and serve through spiritual gifts.
We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to build and strengthen the Church and should always operate in harmony with Scripture (Acts 1:5; Acts 2:1-4; Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31).
The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ and that every person who is born of the Spirit is part of the body of believers.
The Church has been given a mission by Jesus to share the Gospel and make disciples. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22; Ephesians 2:19-22; John 17:20-23).
Healing, Prayer, and God's Provision
We believe healing is demonstrated throughout the life and ministry of Jesus and is included in His commission to His disciples. We believe Christians should pray for the sick and seek God's provision for spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, and financial needs while using what God provides to better serve others (James 5:14-16; Matthew 8:16-17; Philippians 4:7-8, 19).
Baptism and Communion
We believe followers of Jesus are commanded to be baptized in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38).
We also observe the Lord's Supper, or Communion, remembering the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross (Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25).
V1 Church also recognizes foot washing as an ordinance that may be observed by established places of worship as seen fit according to Scripture (John 13:1-17).
Marriage
We believe that from the beginning of creation, God designed and ordained marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24).
Resurrection, Heaven, and the Return of Jesus
We believe Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead three days after His crucifixion.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, that Heaven is the eternal dwelling place of believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that those who reject God will face judgment and Hell.
We also believe Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth to establish His Kingdom at a time not disclosed in Scripture (Matthew 24:30; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 1:7).
